My Favorite Place.

Twelve years ago I traveled to Canada to take a class. I spent one week on Grand Manan , an island between Maine and Nova Scotia,learning about the biodiversity of the Bay of Fundy.  Here so much of what I taught had come to life. The last night there, I went out to a lighthouse with a friend and decided that I wanted my students to also have this experience. That September when I went back to school I shared my adventure with my classes.I worked with our Home and School to fundraise and I started a program so that I could take children every year to Whale Camp. The first year I traveled to Canada with 5 students, this year I will be taking 23. This program is much more than escorting children to this wonderful place, this program is a community endeavor. We spend the year raising funds for this trip and also doing community service.(This is why my principal is always giving me jobs to do, because my students will do anything to get to Whale Camp.) This has made such a huge difference in my career.I work very hard to make this happen but rewards are priceless.The elementary school teachers look  to my students to help them with tutoring, after school homework club, recycling , grading papers and doing anything that needs to be done.
